It is said that although his term is a lifer and that means a minimum of fourteen years, there is a possibility of him being released within the next six months.

This is probably on account of good conduct and hard work.

The reason for Purshottam to be in jail is murder.

Brutal, ruthless,... Blood thirsty murder !

Yes... It is quite believable. Infact the kind of temper Purshottam has he is capable of worse. 

It so happened, that years ago when Purshottam, Vikram and Krishen were growing up in a shanty. Incidentally Purshottam and Vikram are brothers and Krishen both their best friend and neighbour. So while they were growing up, in the other side of the town, in the poshest avenue was growing up Dhanraj.

Dhanraj was Purshottam and Vikram’s father’s younger brother’s son.

While Papaji, that is Purshottam’s father worked as a factory runner in the local milk dairy, Chote Papaji, that is Dhanraj’s father was running an extremely successful business. He was the sole supplier of the electric meter that was fixed in each and every house of the city by the Electricity Department.

The business ran into crores because he was the only manufacturer and he never allowed anyone besides himself get the order from the Electric Department.

Papaji was extremely humble about his own position in life and very proud of his brother’s success.

No doubt that there was a lot of disparity in their life-styles but the two brothers were close.

Or so Papaji thought.Until the night he landed up at Chote Papaji’s birthday party with his wife and children. 

Purshottam was sixteen then, Vikram twelve and their elder sister Shiela Bhenji was eighteen years old. Papaji had insisted that Mummyji accompany him with the children for that party, where usually Papaji used to go alone...wish and come back. Mummyji had even said that Papaji should follow the usual pattern, but this time Papaji was adamant. He insisted that they were always unnecessarily apprehensive about going to Chote Papaji’s house where as he was his real brother damn it. It is like going to their own house. Besides being Chote Papaji’s birthday, just this morning they have finalised Shiela Bhenji’s marriage.
